Indicted Waukegan Alderman Update: Roudell Kirkwood


In July 2022, former Waukegan 4th Ward Alderman Roudell Kirkwood was charged with dozens of felonies for forgery, wire fraud, and official misconduct. According to the Lake County News-Sun, these crimes were committed in connection with false statements he made on both video gaming and liquor license applications.


Even so, Kirkwood ran for re-election but lost to Victor Felix in the Democratic Party primary.


Since the disgraced former educator left the Waukegan City Council this spring, Waukeganites are wondering where he is and what the latest is with his case. It looks like Mr. Kirkwood is going to really have to pull a rabbit out of his hat to avoid retirement in the state penitentiary. Kirkwood is expected back in Lake County Court in courtroom T812 on October 5th. Waukegan Watch will be following along
